01. Project overview
Raven exists to help organisations build design capability from the inside out facilitated by an impressive pool of talent. Their challenge was telling a complex story simply without losing the intelligence at the heart of their work.
I collaborated with them to build an identity with enough personality to feel human avoiding blending into the grey corporate cookie-cutter background. The Raven team wrote the copy and I helped shape the story, structure the content, and design a Framer site that’s elegant, intuitive and easy for them to manage. The result is a brand that feels exactly like them: smart, grounded, and quietly playful.


02. The challenge
Raven needed to articulate a nuanced offering in a way that felt simple, conveying competence and calm authority without too many bells and whistles.
Their main challenges:
Clarity: Explaining their value proposition succinctly and coherently
Visual Alignment: Communicating expertise without leaning into overly corporate or generic design tropes
Ease of Use: Ensuring the website felt high-end yet simple for a start-up team to update



03. The approach
I collaborated with the founders, helping map the narrative flow of the brand and website. I offered guidance on structure, hierarchy, emphasis and placement, helping ensure their message landed confidently.
Look and feel took inspiration from Swiss Design and its bold typography and disciplined layout with minimal ornamentation. To balance all that seriousness with some personality, I introduced a playful, abstract visual language to pair with a brand mark with a subtle reference their feathery namesake.
The website was built in Framer using understated animation punctuating key story beats for nuggets of delight.
Kat is a brilliant illustrator, designer and brand consultant. She did some amazing work helping us get our launch at Raven sorted out, including brand strategy, identity work, website design and production and content for our social media.
I found Kat to be a great collaborator, and really straightforward and fun to work with. The main thing is she gets stuff done with very little to and fro - she just understands what you need, takes guidance really well and just got an amazing level of high class output done in no time flat!
